About Our Founder
A well-known chef in the food sector, Clarke Merrell is renowned for his originality and enthusiasm for creating mouthwatering dishes.
Clarke has established himself as a seasoned and competent restaurateur as the Executive Chef and Owner of numerous popular restaurants in North Carolina.
Growing up, Clarke was introduced to the restaurant and food industry at a young age through his involvement with his parents’ takeover of DJ Shooters in Atlantic Beach in 1988. He had a profound passion and enthusiasm for the culinary arts as a result of this early encounter, and he knew he wanted to become a chef even as a young child.
Clarke continued his education in culinary arts at the Florida Culinary Institute, where he developed his techniques and studied under some of the best cooks in the nation. Following graduation, he worked with several well-known chefs, picking up new skills and experimenting with various ingredients to produce inventive and delectable dishes.
As of right now, Clarke is the proprietor of a number of popular eateries in North Carolina, including:
The custom-built coppertop bar at Circa 81 and the recognizable graffiti artwork at Dank Burrito are just a couple examples of how Clarke’s ingenuity and attention to detail are on display at each of these eateries.
Clarke is one of North Carolina’s most well-respected chefs and restaurateurs thanks to his love of cuisine and dedication to giving his patrons an outstanding dining experience.
